University of Birmingham, Hotel and Conference Centre

Working with Galliford Try , Dodd Group has completed the design and installation of the MEP services for this second project on the University of Birmingham site.

The 172-bed hotel and conference facility, known as the Edgbaston Hotel and Conference Centre, has been built near to the University's existing conference facilities off Edgbaston Park Road

The new hotel offers increased flexibility for conferences and other events, including weddings, with rooms able to be configured to hold anywhere between 20 and 200 delegates.

In order to achieve the client's budgetary requirements, the project was taken back to RIBA stage 2 by Dodd Group and design partners Capita. It was then redeveloped through stage 3, altering the original strategy of the MEP services in order to meet the client's cost requirements.

Throughout this process the aesthetics and finish of the end product were considered to ensure no loss in quality for the end user.

This open and collaborative approach by all team members allowed the scheme to be completed on budget and on time.
