County firm is leading way in green revolution

Since the introduction of the government backed feed-in-tariff (FiT) there has been an unprecedented amount of interest generated in Solar Photovoltaic energy. With the launch later this year of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and the Green Deal there has never been a better time to consider alternative ways to heat and power your home in a more sustainable manner.

Dodd Group, one of the UK’s largest electrical and mechanical contractors, anticipated this growth and has established itself as one of the country’s leading specialists in the field. Dodd Group was one of the first companies in the UK to receive nationwide MCS (Micro-generation Certification Scheme) acreditation and went on to install the very first new PV scheme that was eligible for the FiT in 2010. Since that time Dodd Group have installed over 1,000 PV systems on homes, schools, and commercial and agricultural buildings across Shropshire and indeed the UK.

Nick Jones, Business Development Director commented “…consumers in the UK are generally happy to reduce their domestic carbon footprint through embracing low cost initiatives such as waste recycling however many are not so keen to pay for the measures needed to improve the efficiency of their homes. The launch of government backed financial incentives such as FiT and RHI have alleviated this reluctance by making the installation of renewable technologies financially attractive.”

He continued “Shropshire is sure to benefit from the green economy: as well as cutting household expenses and reducing the carbon footprint, the growth of the market has huge potential for creating jobs – 2011 should see an explosion in demand for appropriately qualified engineers as well as all other tradesmen involved in the installation work such as roofers and scaffolders.”

Safe Hands

Matthew Lewis, operations director for Dodd Group Renewable Energy Installations has a busy time ahead. He commented “ When you are making a investment in your home, you want to know that you are in safe hands and that is where come in. We have invested heavily in preparing our workforce so that we can respond efficiently and professionally to any enquiries and deliver a high quality installation. Our customers have come to rely on our expertise to demystify the whole process and deliver a solution that fulfils their requirements. We offer expert advice on funding, a professional survey of your property, an expertly designed scheme and a problem free installation.”

He further added..” Renewable technologies not only attract subsidies but can also make a significant saving on your household energy bills. We are finding that more and more people are replacing their traditional oil fired boilers with combinations of air source heat pumps and solar thermal systems and would encourage people to give serious consideration to the benefits that renewables can bring both financially and in terms of CO2 reduction”
