Mr E Turner’s Grain Store, Bridgnorth
Type of Micro-generation fitted: Solar Photovoltaic, 9.675 kWp
Brief Description of Project:
The customer requested that we install as many solar photovoltaic panels as possible on one of his agricultural buildings where there is a separate 3-phase electrical supply to the grain store. We proposed to install 45 modules onto the roof in 3 banks of 15 modules feeding through three separate inverters and the estimated load to each phase would be 3.335 kWp per phase. The side of the roof that we proposed to install was a south facing corrugated roof. Date Installed: 11/01/2011
Approx annual savings achieved: Estimated annual performance: 8065.08 kWp, Estimated Co2 saving per annum 4580.965, Estimated annual generated income £3,661.55, Payback 8.27 Years, profit over 25 years £91,538.88
Mr Lewis, Nescliffe, Shrewsbury
Type of Micro-generation fitted: Solar Photovoltaic, 1.41 kWp
Brief Description of Project:
Mr Lewis home is in a rural location which is directly south facing. Mr Lewis wanted to maximise his roof space to install as many solar PV panels as possible. The first stage of the installation was to fit six modules across a narrow kitchen roof: these had to be installed as one row of six in landscape. Phase two will be to install further panels on a flat roof later on in the year. Date Installed: 13/01/2011
Approx annual savings achieved: Estimated annual performance: 1188.912 kWp, Estimated Co2 saving per annum 675.302, Estimated annual generated income £590.89, Payback 11.25 Years, profit over 25 years £8,123.61
Residents Townscroft Lodge,C/o Trafford Housing Trust Manchester
Type of Micro-generation fitted: Solar Photovoltaic 8.46Kw
Brief Description of Project:
Trafford Housing Trust decided to trial 4 sheltered housing schemes by contributing to the schemes electrical supply with distributed generation by the means of PV.
The modules used were Yingli 235 pw as per Trafford Housing Spec, using a three phase supply and three inverters .Each phase would carry 11/12 amps approx thus keeping the installation under the G83 threshold.
The system will help contribute to reducing the communal electricity bill, and hopefully give a prominent focal point to the residents of the surrounding area showing off Trafford’s commitment to sustainability.
Orientation of Installation: South
Date Installed: 17 Feb 2011
Approx annual savings achieved: £3328.66
Approx annual Co2 savings achieved: 4005.681 Co2/pa

To thank the residents for putting up with us while we carried out the installation we donated two hampers made by Teresa Wellock, Dodd Group Stockport Office Supervisor, and managed to raise £115 in the coffee morning which went towards the new MRI at the children’s hospital in Manchester.
Harvest Housing Trust
Type of Micro-generation fitted: Solar Thermal /Air source Heat Pump
Brief Description of Project:
Pilot test for the provision of using Micro – Generation. Various properties within the housing stock are off gas and still use solid fuel to provide heating and hot water.
The brief was to establish what technologies could be utilised to help reduce the fuel bill for the tenant and create a more sustainable home.
For Harvest it will be the first project and it will be monitored to for the possibility of rolling out similar installations to the rest of the housing stock in the near future.
Date Installed: 1st October
Value: Approx £10,000
Holly Jones / Plymouth Community Housing
