Solar Photovoltaic

Solar Photovoltaic, or PV, is a system that generates electrical energy from the sun. A collection of solar cells (an array) are used to collect the energy, which is converted into useful electricity for use in the home or be ”exported” back to the utility company’s electrical distribution network.

Funding towards the cost of installing PV is most commonly via the Feed-in Tariff

The amount of electricity produced by a solar array depends on the surface area of the array and the quality and performance of the individual cells (modules) and the system components. Dodd Group only use MCS approved equipment in the systems we design and install. They work on exposure to daylight and will therefore continue to generate electricity even on cloudy days.

Solar PV arrays are simple to install and once installed are virtually maintenance free. MCS accredited modules guarantee performance (electrical generation) over a 25 -year period and on a typical family home, with a south facing roof, not only reduce the energy bills for the property but also return typical 8-9% return on the initial investment (cost of purchase and installation) over the 25 year Feed-in Tariff duration.

Dodd Group design and installation teams will ensure that the best possible layout and professional quality of service is delivered within your budget. Our Surveyor will inspect your property and provide you with a detailed quotation on what is needed to complete your works.

Our team will support you through the final registration process for the Feed in Tariff. We will also confirm planning consents with your local planning authority, and notify the electrical Distribution Network Operator of your connection to the grid.

Our delivery team will visit your home.

  • Surveyor to inspect your property and tell you what sizes of PV system are suitable and carry out a survey of your existing electrical system.
  • Our administration team will confirm the system price in an official quotation, identifying any additional work that may be required for installation.
  • Upon acceptance of the full quotation, and payment of a deposit, our Surveyor will agree a convenient installation date with you and order the materials. The Installation typically takes between 2 to 3 days with minimum disruption.

Once complete you will be presented with your Solar PV customer pack that will include documents such as your MCS certificate, commissioning documents and final invoice. We will also include an application form to register for the Feed in Tariff, completed on your behalf. You can then sign this and send on to your energy provider.
