Bid Writer

Summary

A Bid Writer is required to join Dodd Group - a privately owned family business formed in 1947; a national M&E provider with an outstanding reputation for delivering excellent levels of service.

We currently employ over 850 staff and have a turnover in excess of £140m.

You will be integral to the writing and tailoring of bids for the Property Care side of the business.

Every bid should be written to the requirements of each individual client by the use of: existing bid library material, market intelligence, research and liaison with internal/external stakeholders. You will assist in raising the company's profile by working closely with our Business Development team and therefore there will be a requirement to write proposals, brochures and online material.

The role won’t just involve content for use in written documentation, but also presentations and supporting documentation; ensuring a cohesive, professional and consistent approach.

The person

First and foremost is the ability to write compelling content.

As an integral part of the bid team, the ideal candidate will also have the ability to lead and work with other bid team members as well as bid contributors; actively helping contributors with the necessary skills and confidence to write and produce material themselves.

Skills required:

High attention to detail with excellent editing and proof reading skills

Excellent communicator

Effective time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise your own workload

A proven history of successful bids – we are looking for someone with at least 3 years bid writing experience.

Experience in the M&E industry (preferable)

Positively contribute to bid kick-off meetings and storyboarding workshops

Contribute to the creation of win themes, key messages and ensuring the “golden thread” is woven throughout the quality submissions

Write compelling content and create dynamic visuals via the design / layout of the document

Review, improve and update bid documentation regularly to meet the current needs of the

business

Conduct customer research to gain a complete overview of each customer

Proofread and edit the documents prior to submission

Gather technical data from internal departments e.g. Operations, IT, QHSE, Commercial and interpret the material for the target audience

Work alongside our Estimating team and ensure there is synergy between the commercial and quality elements of the bids.

Bridge Assistant / General Labourer

Bridge Assistant / General Workman – A17 Crosskeys Swing Bridge, Sutton Bridge


Dodd Group (Eastern) is looking for an assistant to support the Bridge Operator when opening the swing bridge at high tides to allow the passage of river traffic.


As the times of high tides vary, the work pattern will be occasional 8-hour shifts across the full 24 hour, 7 days per week period.


The Bridge Assistant / General Workman primary role will be to visually confirm aspects of bridge operation, e.g. traffic barriers are down, and report back to the operator using a two-way radio.


The Bridge Assistant / General Workman must be capable and comfortable accessing all working areas of the bridge structure which includes the use of stairways and vertical ladders.


You must be comfortable working outside, and have good communication skills and a keen eye.


Full Training and all protective clothing will be provided.

Commerical Gas engineer - Solihull and surrounding

Dodd Group urgently require commercial bias gas engineers for contracts in and around Solihull area.
Weekly paid position

Wages Dependent on skills and qualifications
40 hours per week, Monday- Friday Plus inclusion on call out rota
This is a mobile role surrounding areas, where you will carry out maintenance, fault finding, repair and small installation work on all gas heating systems.

Duties

  • Undertake gas work safely in compliance with gas-safe standards
  • Complete suitable risk assessments prior under undertaking gas work and any other work and complete the appropriate documentation in full
  • Diagnose faults on equipment and repair as necessary
  • Record and report any risk, loss or defect to management for corrective action
  • Ensure completion of remedial work, repairs etc. within the defined time-scales

You will have

  • Proven experience in commercial gas maintenance work.
  • Appropriate knowledge of Health and Safety and environmental requirements
  • Electrical maintenance experience / qualifications would be an advantage
  • Full UK driving licence required
  • Enhanced CRB check may be required

Gas Service & Repair Engineer Required:

The main purpose of the role is to attend to service and breakdown work as a representative of the company, working efficiently to solve any problems and to ensure service provision for all customers in a timely and safe manner.

The Person:

General Responsibilities:

Including but not limited to:

· Plan day based on allocated calls and locations

The role is to breakdown client enquiries, organise or complete the required surveys and prepare detailed Mechanical estimates, tenders and quotations to ensure that opportunities are being accurately estimated competitively, successfully and profitably.

You will support the Business in client meetings and estimation/tender presentations to help secure tendered opportunities.

Using relevant industry experience, you will be expected to help develop and refine the estimation process to improve efficiency, clarity, and accuracy while reducing overall costs.

Desired Skills & Experience

The role requires a solid understanding of Mechanical estimating and previous experience in the construction industry, ideally as an estimator in a similar role.

An understanding of Commercial Measured Term Maintenance contracts would be an advantage

Established background in Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Project & Bid Management
