National Apprentice Week

Dodd Group has marked the start of National Apprenticeship Week by attending career fairs aimed specifically at attracting apprentices. The Apprenticeship Jobs Fair in Plymouth's Guildhall drew in crowds throughout the day, attracting almost 900 visitors. Attendees learned there has been a 25 per cent increase in the number of apprentices, across all sectors, in Plymouth in the past two years. And in the construction sector that number is near to 60 per cent. Ron Butt and the South West Team, supported by Dodd Group's HR Manager Mary-Anne Clayton spent their time chatting to the host of visitors and were kept busy all day.

Meanwhile 320 miles away at the College of West Anglia, King's Lynn's Chris Watson and Mike Jones set out Dodd Group stall at the College Apprenticeships Open Day. To help bridge the gulf between our ex-apprentices and the potential new ones, Tom Hazell was co-opted as our model of the modern apprentice. The team dealt with a steady stream of interested parents and students and were able to share with them their first hand experiences of being an apprentice.
