Alstom, Project Chambertin

The project is Alstom's UK centre for research and development, providing training in engineering, manufacturing, project management and other vital transport sector skills, upskilling the existing workforce, as well as supporting apprentices and new graduates for the rail industry across the North West.

 

The 10,000sqm project is a new build construction and also includes a modernisation bay for the maintenance of Alstom's existing UK rail fleet. It includes three track lines, one line includes a 270m long inspection pit including lighting, seven cranes, three large paint booths and three detailed booths.

Alstom's future plans are to increase the size of the building to 52,000sqm, this being phase 0, the first of 3 phases.

Dodd Group's works included private HV ring, transformer, LV substation, LV distribution, LED lighting, lighting control, pit transformers, depot protection system, life safety systems, disabled services, security systems, high velocity ventilation, NFPA compliant sprinkler system, fire hydrant ring, heating and cooling systems, domestics and BMS.
