Dodd Group has successfully completed the design and installation of MEP services at the new Beacon College, which is a Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) school.

The new facility will accommodate 60 students from across the county aged between 16 and 19 with severe and complex learning difficulties.

The site includes a hydrotherapy pool, carpark and multiuse games area on behalf of the Department for Education (DfE) and Accordia Academies Trust (formally Barrs Court Academy Trust.)

Designed to DFE Spec 2022, Dodd Group was responsible for RIBA Stages 2-5 as well as the installation of services which include high efficiency gas boilers, heat recovery, LED lighting, and enhanced access control and security to meet the requirements of the pupils.

The hydrotherapy pool required close controlled dedicated ventilation and a DDA hoist.

Heating throughout the school was distributed via a hybrid ventilation units in line with the client’s safety requirements for the pupils.
