Dodd Group were appointed as the MEP Contractor to design and build the services installation associated with the new Leisure and Retail Complex at the Grade II listed Bolton Market Place Shopping Centre. The first phase of the project commenced in March 2014 and the final phase completed in October 2016.
The project includes the refurbishment of the existing Victorian basement vaults, which date back to 1855, that have been restored and reopened as a destination space, with retail, restaurant spaces and a state-of-the-art Cinema, The Light. The new cinema is a 30,000 sq ft nine screen cinema complex constructed for the Light Cinema Group on the original car park level.
The project also includes refurbishment of existing Landlord and Tenant services as well as new installation works within a listed building environment. The shopping centre remained live whilst all works were carried out.
Market Place is the catalyst for Bolton’s increasing leisure and night time economy, recently winning the Best Large Commercial Building category at this year’s Local Authority Building Control (LABC) North West Awards and the Revo(British Council of Shopping Centres) Gold Award for Refurbishment and Extensions in 2016.
