Perry Barr Residential Scheme - Plot 6

Dodd group was appointed by and partnered with Kier Construction to undertake the design and installations of the ME services to Plot 6 on the Perry Barr residential scheme, in Birmingham. The project consists of 268No. 1No. and 2No. bedroom fully fitted apartments. In addition to this the ground floor area are provided with infrastructure services shell & core areas for future fit out by tenants.

Our involvement included the initial cost planning and development of the design from the stage 2 scope documents to provide a full stage 3 design and specification document with final fixed price sum for the provision of the MEP design and build package. Dodd Group partnered with Hoare Lea to assist in developing the design, Part L energy and thermal al models through the stage 3 and following stage 4 design process to provide a full turnkey MEP design solution to BIM level 02 standards.

The main focus of the design being the provision of apartment accommodation with additional infrastructure facilities and accommodation layouts that could be fit out to an extra care facility with limited disruption. The services provision therefore incorporated base build containment for future warden call systems, room layouts to DOC M standards, base build commercial kitchens, gym, buggy, refuse stores and ancillary services for future fit out.

The mechanical services provision included main central boiler heating plant feeding a district heating networks around the building for LTHW wet heating and DHWS services to apartments and landlord areas, the installation of main riser ductworks systems for future fit out use, smoke ventilation systems and sprinkler domestic sprinkler systems. The Electrical services included the provision of a full IDNO network to all apartments, standby power generation, lighting, small power, fire alarm, telecommunications, CCTV and access control systems to all areas.
