P22 Covid-19 Recovery Emergency Department

P22 Covid-19 Recovery Emergency Department

Dodd Group was selected as Kier's MEP partner to deliver a new modular 6 bed facility under the P22 framework to support the emergency response medical activities potentially required to be executed on Covid-19 positive patients. This 6 bay unit provides fully HTM compliant MEP systems including enhanced ventilation requirements to ensure that the treatment bays are provided with sufficient fresh air and air changes as per the updated Covid ventilation requirements. Systems installed included:

  • UPS backed essential power supplies.
  • Medical gas's
  • Bespoke Medical trunking
  • Fully addressable fire alarm system interfaced with the wider estate.
  • Staff panic alarm & CCTV interfaced with the wider estate.
  • VRF systems for comfort control within the entire space.

The project included feasibility studies, load monitoring, mechanical hydraulic/flow reviews to ensure that the existing infrastructure had adequate capacity to accommodate the additional service's load which was to be introduced by this project. As there was a desperate need for this facility it was delivered within a 12 week operational period, requiring Dodd Group to develop an early procurement strategy so that all "long-lead time" equipment was procured early enough to ensure that the end date was not compromised. Dodd Group has received direct feedback from the Trust complimenting the team delivering this project with Kier.
