The project is the refurbishment of an existing school building and a new build extension. The development will convert the existing Hamilton Centre into a 2 storey SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Special School for 96 pupils. Additionally, there will be new car parking, landscaping and multi-use sports areas. The new part of the scheme will be built using sustainable pre-fabricated structures.

Reading Borough Council won provisional funding from the Education Skills Funding Agency's Priority Schools Building Programme to build the school.
