University of Plymouth Rolle Building

University of Plymouth Rolle Building

Working with Classic Builders Dodd Group was employed as a traditional contractor to deliver the MEP services required to accommodate the infill of the lightwell, reconfiguration of the main entrance and internal areas to create new learning spaces for students within the Rolle Building within the University of Plymouth

As there were a lot of existing services to be adapted and relocated, the early stage surveys and dilapidation surveys were a key part of this project to ensure that the areas around the site where remained undisturbed during the project.

The project was designed by Bailey Partnership who Dodd Group worked with to ensure that the detail was updated and captured as we completed more intrusive survey works. Collaborative workshops were key to the successful delivery of this scheme to overcome the interface of new and existing services whilst ensuring minimal disruption to the stakeholders and students within the building.

The relocation of such key services included:

  • Smoke vent shaft and panel.
  • Main fire alarm panel.
  • Main intruder alarm panel.
  • Main disabled refuge panel.

There was no site compound for this project so the just-in-time procurement of materials was essential for ensuring that nothing was overstocked as the site just could not accommodate this.

This project was delivered on time and within budget to the client's satisfaction.
