The GDF Cofely-owned Geothermal energy centre in Southampton is a power plant / district heating energy centre. Geothermal energy is used to heat local businesses, schools, hospitals etc. In September 2015, we designed and installed a 30kw PV system over 2 roofs, comprising 12 panels on a Kingspan tin sheet building.

Using bespoke scaffolding we were able to span across the two roofs which are pitched at differing angles. The panels were lifted via Gin wheel, rope and lifting bag, and were installed to match the roof pitches.

The system will generate 29,070 kw p.a., yielding a 22.5% return on investment through export and savings, and saving 15 tonnes of carbon per annum.
