Kings Lynn Team Scoops Award

Kings Lynn Team Scoops Award

Iain Penny and Shaun Smith from our Kings Lynn office were recently invited to the "Anglian Water Suppliers Award 2019" as part of the EDM Management Team.

The EDM Project, scooped the 'Best Programme/Project' prize.

EDM (Event Duration Monitoring) is an Environment Agency requirement to detect, log and transmit incidences of overflows from the sewers due to storms or, exceptionally, plant failures. To Dodd Group this translates as the installation of monitoring equipment in sewers. From an operational perspective the installation process is complicated and often involves traffic control, road closures or night working. From a technical point of view 3G GPRS is normally used to transmit data but where this is unavailable, an alternative radio system is used to bounce the signal to a telemetry outstation on a local pumping station via a booster mounted on a nearby lamppost or tree - a great example of the specialist services that we provide.

Our King's Lynn branch remains heavily-focused on the utilities sector with two Anglian Water frameworks (Telemetry and M&E), BT works in the region and National Grid nationwide. In addition, they continue to provide maintenance, breakdown and project support to many local industrial and commercial concerns.
