Due to recent expansion Dodd Group would like to employ a Switchgear Service Technician
with experience in high & Low voltage
maintenance & servicing to strengthen our busy Maintenance Department.
The Opportunity
This role offers a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious engineer to develop their skill set and work on a wide number of exciting projects.
This is an advanced-level technician position. The position requires the
technical experience, understanding, knowledge and skills to inspect, survey, test,
service, repair, retrofit and operate complex switchgear systems.
The position reports to the Contracts Manager and
routinely interacts with customers and various employees within the company.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities - require a specific
focus on proven process and procedure in order to:
· Troubleshoot
operational failures of complex switchgear systems
· Install
and test relays, breakers, buss bars, surge capacitors, neutral grounding
resistors
· Test and
inspect PT/CT’s
· Perform
Hi-pot cable testing
· Perform
primary and secondary injection breaker testing
· Perform
Infrared inspection testing
· Work with
other technicians on large projects
· Guide and
train lower-level technicians
· Respond
quickly to job site (24/7)
· Install
and terminate LV Cabling
· Follow
safety requirements, including proper use of protective equipment
· Safely
drive a service vehicle
· Clearly,
concisely document all work and repairs completed
Education and experience
High school diploma or GED certificate. Three plus years’ experience in
electrical testing of switchgear systems
Skills and abilities
· Be
personable and able to communicate with clients
· Carry out
instructions given in written, oral or diagram form
· Problem-solve
and make logical decisions
· Be
self-motivated
· Ability to work independently without close supervision.
