Telemetry Outstation Configuration and Testing Engineers

The King’s Lynn branch of Dodd Group is expanding its Telemetry Configuration Team that builds, configures, tests and installs PLC-based telemetry outstations on utility sites across East Anglia.

The bulk of the work involves upgrading ‘live’ telemetry systems with new equipment on ‘live’ water and sewage sites with the consequent risk of disruption to critical services and the client’s customers.

The preferred candidates will be capable of carrying out a significant proportion of the following tasks:

· ‘Desktop surveys’ of I/O, control and communications requirements based on existing outstation configurations.

· Site surveys of existing telemetry installations.

· Preparation and pricing of detailed installation proposals.

· Remapping outstation and PLC from existing to new templates.

· Recreating modular and bespoke control and signal conditioning software code using commercial (e.g. Straton, RSLogix) and proprietary applications.

· Identifying hardware requirements.

· Asset management of outstation hardware.

· Physical design, layout and assembly of bespoke outstation panels and backboards.

· Functional testing of configured outstations at works.

· ‘Top-end’ support of outstation installation and on-site testing/commissioning.

· Carrying out periodic quality checks of data from newly-installed outstations.

· Creating/updating outstation mimics (interactive process diagrams) on the ‘top-end’ system.

· Scheduling and progress reporting of configuration, testing and installation activities.

· Preparation and completion of technical documentation.

· Technical liaison with Dodd Group survey, build and installation teams, and the client’s operational and telemetry personnel.

Confidence with MS Office is necessary – particularly Excel – and experience of telemetry and PLC systems will be a distinct advantage as some outstations are linked to process automation PLCs. The role demands accuracy, an eye for detail, a diligent nature and an affinity for problem-solving. You will receive full training on the telemetry equipment and software tools.

We will not accept applications from recruitment agencies.
